The Show setting lets you set not only how many messages you see at once, but how many are downloaded from the server.When you set it to Manual, email will be checked every time you enter the inbox for the email account in the Mail program. You can set it for Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes or Every hour. This is how often mail is checked, even if you don’t access your Mail program. Under a list of current accounts, you will also see categories for Message and Sending. This will take you to the main Mail preference.
